The Nigerian Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has said the Senate will approve a Multi-Billion dollar loan which was requested by President Muhammadu Buhari. Lawan made the disclosure on Monday while speaking with journalists in Abuja.
The President requested a multi-Billion dollar estimated at $29.960bn which was rejected by the former Senate President in the year 2016 under the leadership of Bukola Saraki.
The Senate President said; The question of whether we will pass the loan request of the executive arm of government, yes!
The main issue here is that, we’re going go to be critical that every cent that is borrowed is tied to the project. These projects that will have spillover effects on the economy and we will commence our oversight so well to ensure that such funds are properly, cautiously, inexpensively and transparently are applied on the projects they re meant for.
The reason why the Senate was unable to pass the loan request in the year 2016, the reason was because there were no clear details on how the money will be utilized.
