The Nigerian Government has disclosed that over 100 Million citizens are unemployed with while many of these citizens are unemployable.
Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, disclosed while speaking at the 2019 National Migration Dialogue at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday 17th December, 2019.
The Minister criticized the rate at which Nigerian citizens are leaving the country is quite alarming, adding that the skilled Nigerians should be exported.
He further said, “Nigeria is more than 200 Million and about 60 percent are youths who needs to be engaged with jobs. Regrettably, only 10 percent are engaged in decent jobs.
Numerous are not employed while others are unemployable. “We are working hard to makes sure that they get job so that they can have a roof over their heads, take care of their needs, feed and enjoy life.
We have established linkages with the Ministry of Education, Industry, Trade and Investment, Youth and Sports, and Agriculture.
We want to create an avenue where our people can acquire skills that can be exported.
