Immigration Arrests Five Stowaway At Lagos Seaport


The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos Seaport Command, has apprehended five stowaways aboard vessel MT IDI en route Las Palmas, Spain.

Mr. Sunday James, Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, said that the stowaways were discovered through an intelligence report made to it by the master of the vessel about 156 nautical miles off Lagos Shoreline.

Olubushola Fashakin, the Comptroller of the Command, who was at hand to receive the arrested stowaways, cautioned desperate youths from embarking on such risky adventures.

Meanwhile, Comptroller-General of NIS, Muhammad Babandede, praised the officers and the comptroller for the arrest. He also cautioned youths against irregular travels out of the country, stressing that it might lead to a huge suffer.
