Illegal Transfer, The Cause of Kaduna Explosion – Petroleum Department Reveals


You can recall that Zidec Exclusive reported earlier about the explosion in Kaduna, our team was later updated by the Nigeria’s Department of Petroleum Resources that an illegal transfer of Liquefied Petroleum Gas caused the explosion that occurred in Kaduna on Saturday the 4th of January, 2020.

According to a statement by Mr. Paul Osu, the Head, Public Affairs of the agency, after a preliminary investigation was conducted.

The gas explosion that swing Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna, the explosion claimed more than five lives, many others receiving treatments as nearby stalls were wrecked by the fire.

He further said; In line with our rigid oversight on the oil and gas industry, the agency immediately mobilised our staff to the scene to investigate the cause of explosion.

As the investigation is ongoing, we wish to inform the public that we are carrying out further investigations on the incident, and we will get you update as soon as we wrap up.

We urge the general public to report activities of illegal operators to the nearest DPR office.
