Herdsmen Killed Two Farmers In Edo


The Edo State government has criticized the attack by suspected herdsmen against the residents of Owan Village in the Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. The residents have lamented the death of two of their farmers killed by the herdsmen.

The farmers who were identified as Owoh and Samuel Imonkhai, were killed on their farms on Wednesday 19th February, 2020.

Ifiabor Michael, the community leader, said they had suffered increased attacks from the herdsmen and call on the Edo State government for their safety. 

He said at least eight farmers had been killed in February alone. 

In a message to the Edo State Government with subject ‘Save Our Soul’, the residents of Owan, Agbanikaka, Uhiere, Odiguetie and Odighi communities all in Uhiere Ward of Ovia North East LGA of the state pleaded to the Governor, Godwin Obaseki and security agencies to come to their rescue to end the incessant and unprovoked killings by the cattle rearers (herdsmen) in their communities.
