Statistically, the second survey on corruption in Nigeria has revealed that more than 30 per cent of Nigerian citizens gave bribes to public officials in the year 2019.
This information was dished out by the Nigerian Government in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi to be precise.
General, Dr Yemi Kale, a Statistician of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that out of all Nigerian citizens, who had at least one contact with a public official in the 12 months prior to the 2019 survey, more than 30% offered bribe or were asked to pay a bribe by a public officials.
The 2019 review survey proves also a notable increase in the overall proportion of Nigerians, who had at least one contact with a public official in the 12 months prior to the review.
Statistically, Nigeria is ranked Number one of the world’s most corrupt countries in the world.
