Being Mute On Christians’ Abduction Is Persecution, CAN Tells President Buhari

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says the silence of the Nigerian Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari over the killing and kidnap of Christians in the country is a proof of persecution.

The President of CAN Samson Ayokunle In a statement on Monday, 6th January, 2020, pleaded with the government to urgently deploy necessary resources to guarantee the release of all Christians in the captivity of the dreaded Islamic Boko Haram Terrorists.

According to the CAN president; The Chairman of CAN in Michika, Adamawa State, Rev. Lawan Andimi, was abducted by the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists last week when they invaded the community.

Though, the Nigerian Army troops repelled them, but not until they had successfully forced the Rev. into their Hilux and took him away. The CAN chairman in a video footage released by terrorists, has been making an appeal to the Federal Government, the Adamawa State governor and leadership of CAN to come to his aid.

On the 27th of November, 20119, Mr Bitrus Bwala, a principal lecturer at the College of Education Gashua, Yobe State, together with 10 others, who are all Christians, were kidnpped by Boko Haram terrorists and Bwala in a short video cried out for help. Up till now, the government has not secured their freedom or said anything about them.

There was also a bandit attack on Kasaya village, another Christian community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday 6th January, at about 6:30am where they abducted 41 people, including a pastor, Joshua Samaila. Up till now, there has been no update about them.

These are all proof of persecution of Christian in the country and when we cried out in support of the position of the United States Government, they said it is not true.

These criminals invades the Christian communities, killing and kidnapping the innocent Christians, unchallenged by the Security personnel, what do we call it, is it not persecution?

Come to think of it, how many Boko Haram Terrorists, herdsmen killers and bandits are in the custody of the security agencies? How many of them have been arraigned in court?

Once again we are calling on the Federal Government and all the security agencies to device a means for securing immediate and safe release of all these hostages and to ensure adequate security in all the affected Christian communities that are now the targets of these criminals. We also call on the United Nations, the US, the UK and others around the world to assist our government to ensure peace in the country.
