3 Persons Confirmed Dead As A Result Of The Lagos Pipeline Fire Outbreak


Recall that Zidec Exclusive had reported lately on Sunday 19th January, 2020 that a pipeline leakage led to a fire outbreak that forced residents of their domain to scamper to safety, three (3) persons have been confirmed dead, following the fire outbreak incident.

The fire was finally put out through the joint efforts of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State and Federal Fire services, Rapid Response Squad and other relevant safety and security agencies. Buildings, numbering seven (7) including a hotel was completely destroyed by the fire incident.

Residents, who spoke to our correspondent, blamed the fire outbreak on vandals scooping petrol from the leaking pipeline.

Speaking to Newsmen on the incident, Nosa Okunbor, Public Affairs Officer of LASEMA, said that the valve where the vandalised petroleum product emanated from had been stopped, cutting off supply totally from the source at NNPC station.  However, the preliminary report on the Ilepo fire outbreak had it that it was a pipeline fire which cause could not be ascertained; however, situational report from further investigations later revealed that the fire outbreak was as a result of pipeline vandalism.

He further said that; the report have it that two adults and one young male lost their lives to the fire outbreak, with 11 trucks laden with 40feet containers destroyed, while about seven buildings were destroyed by the fire outbreak.
